Implantable Loop Recorder

Intermittent heart rhythm problems are hard to diagnose, particularly if they occur more than 2 weeks apart. For these problems, NICE recommend inserting a small ECG recorder under the skin after local anaesthetic numbs the skin. This is a very straightforward procedure allowing rapid diagnosis after symptoms. The device is programmed to look for abnormal heart rates, either slow or fast, and can also keep the ECG during symptoms by pressing a button.
