Consultations:
Consultations are scheduled to run for half an hour, but that is just a guide and you will have as long as needed for us to address your concerns. If this is the first time that we meet then we will take detailed history and if it is a face-face consultation, we will also examine you. If we do not have access to a recent ECG from your GP then we will arrange one. We will then explain our findings and conclusions. If we recommend further tests, procedures or treatment we will discuss those with you and together we will come up with a plan on how to move forward.
Virtual consultations:
You may wish to have a virtual consultation, either over the telephone or using secure video conferencing software. This is especially the case in light or the COVID pandemic and saves travelling to the hospital. At Wiltshire Cardiology we can offer this facility and we use DrDoctor https://www.drdoctor.co.uk/ . (can we have a link that shows their information but not go to an outside website.
What do I need for a virtual consultation?
You will need an internet enabled device (Smartphone, Tablet, laptop or desktop computer) and an internet connection. You will need to allow access to the camera and microphone on your device for the software to work. Most smart phones and tablets will have a camera and microphone built in but if your laptop or desktop computer does not have a camera, you will need a webcam.
How does the virtual consultation work?
We will arrange an appointment time and you will be asked to provide a mobile phone number or email address. You will receive a link for the appointment with clear instructions to follow.
What do I need to do before my consultation?
The more information that we have the more productive the consultation will be. Often there will be a letter from your GP and maybe even an ECG. If you have details of your medications, a copy of your ECG, previous clinic letters or results of any of your previous investigations then please bring them or pass copies of them onto our secretaries before the consultation.
Fees:
We are both recognised by the following healthcare insurance providers: BUPA, AXA PPP, AVIVA, WPA, Vitality health and Cigna. Even if your provider is not on this list we will be able to submit an invoice providing you have an authorisation number.
How will I be billed?
We use a company called Medserv who will arrange the billing on our behalf. If you are insured your insurance company will receive the bill and pay us. However there may be an excess on your policy in which case you will receive an invoice for the difference in the amount that needs to be paid. If you are funding yourself then you will receive a bill from Medserv. There are various payment methods for which you will receive instructions from Medserv
What am I paying for?
You will be charged for the consultation, the interpretation of any cardiac tests that we arrange or any procedures that we perform. Our fees are detailed below:
Initial consultation £200
Follow up consultation £150
Are there any other charges?
If you have tests such as an echo or ECG there will be a charge from the hospital for use of their equipment which will be separate from the bill you receive from Medserv for the services of Wiltshire Cardiology.
